Chrysler 300 trims except the SRT8 come standard with a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The 300's Traction Control feature uses sensors to ascertain when the 300 loses traction, and changes the level of the vehicle's power and handling so as to assist with maintaining control.

Toyota Avalon Power & Handling

Toyota's 268-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 remains standard, as does a six-speed automatic transmission. Thanks mostly to transmission tuning, the Avalon is now EPA-rated at 20/29 mpg city/highway - a 1 mpg improvement over last year. Those figures are at the top of the large-car segment.

The 2014 Chrysler 300 is a full-size sedan available in six primary trim levels. In front is a big chrome grille that practically defines the meaning of bold, in back are artful taillights, and it all fits into a familiar shape, with a robust lower form and the slightly-small windows of the slightly-lowered roofline, that is not shy about its identity. Every 300 employs rich finishes and extensive soft-touch materials. On the technology front, the standard 8.4-inch touchscreen interface is one of our favorites, pairing large buttons and crisp graphics with a logical menu structure. Every 2014 Chrysler 300 comes with antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag and active front head restraints.

Toyota Avalon Features & Design

A wide grille connects the headlights, while the front bumper has a wide air dam. The side mirrors include turn-signal indicators. They fold in and, on the Avalon Limited, include puddle lamps. In back, the taillights feature LED light pipes. Front bucket seats and a rear bench provide seating for up to five people. The split rear backrest reclines, enhancing occupant comfort. The base sedan is fairly well-equipped. It comes with leather upholstery, a nine-speaker CD stereo with iPod connectivity and dual-zone automatic air conditioning.

You'll be able to fit about the same amount of groceries into the Chrysler 300 as you will in the Toyota Avalon.
